Zion Halili moved to this neighborhood in 1986. Immediately start to gather few residents out of the community in order to create a civic association; residents including Sal; Deliberto, Steve Povawa. Shortly after he found out that there was already a civic association filed on record that was created over 50 years ago but for the past 20 years was no longer active. That is when Zion Halili searched and found the previous president, by the name Bary Fleeger who explained the status of the association to Zion and forwarded some documents that he still had in his position. The HHCA started with their first meetings at the Hollis Hills Jewish center, then in the office in the ambulance court on Union Turnpike. Slowly the HHCA became bigger of a board, as more people started volunteering. Zion was involved from day one until today, and is one of the longest standing board members. During the past 28 years of being a member of the board, he served as the president and special consultant to the board for the past 6 years.
